Festivals

Our Wildflower & Music Festival, and Mushroom Festival are traditions that have delighted the local community for 40 years. Each festival features large educational  displays—wildflowers in the spring, and mushrooms in the fall— with experts on hand to answer questions. Our stage features live music by local bands all festival-day-long. Throughout the festival day, local naturalists and experts lead guided nature walks through the Arboretum highlighting the area’s ecology and history. For those that are looking to take something home from our festivals, our Merchandise Booth features collectible festival t-shirts and posters and educational materials. We also have vendors selling plants (including many native species), arts & crafts, books and a food cart area bursting with delicious flavors. And for the kiddos, we have a booth just for them full of fun activities!

Play in the Rain Day

Play in the Rain Day is a fun (and free) all-ages event that happens every November and helps visitors discover how fun, easy, and rewarding it is to spend time outdoors.

Arboretum Fundraisers at Plank Town

Twice per year, Plank Town Brewing Company has hosted an evening of mingling where all are invited to join Arboretum board and staff members at Plank Town’s location at 346 Main Street, Springfield. 10% of proceeds from food and beverage sales during the evening are generously donated by Plank Town to support the Arboretum’s work. Stay tuned for when we can resume our fundraisers at Plank Town!

Activities Throughout the Year

We also offer: guided nature walks and workshops on a range of topics, volunteer trainings and work parties, and social and philanthropic events.
