The Virtual Wildflower Show was a huge success!

Wildflower BioBlitz 2020 exceeded our expectations! A big THANK YOU to Native Plant Society of Oregon, Lane Community College, University of Oregon and everyone who participated and made the Wildflower Virtual Show a reality.

From May 13th to May 17th there were: 404 species observed, 119 observers, 67 identifiers and a total of 1,234 observations. Wow! Job well done everyone. Check out this stunning photo gallery of the species.

The wildflower show must go on!

The 2020 Mount Pisgah Arboretum Wildflower Festival is moving to a virtual community event.

We’ll be social distancing and staying safe to stop the spread of COVID-19. As long as you are following public health guidelines for where you live, you can join the fun! Organizers from the Emerald Chapter of Native Plant Society of Oregon, Lane Community College, and University of Oregon join with Mount Pisgah Arboretum in hopes that you will help create this year’s show online through this special iNaturalist Project dedicated to the 2020 Festival: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/lane-county-wildflower-show-bioblitz-2020

To participate in the Lane County Wildflower Show Bioblitz 2020 set up an iNaturalist account: Once you establish an iNaturalist account your photos of plants in Lane County taken and uploaded to iNaturalist from May 13-17 will be compiled in this project automatically. To set up an account download the iNaturalist app, or set up an account at the iNaturalist website.

The dates for this event simulate the plant collections time for the 2020 show, originally scheduled for Sunday, May 17. At the completion of the project, a species list will be posted at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum & NPSO web sites. The show usually includes 300 to 500 different wild plants collected mostly from Lane County. We hope to create a similar plant list this year, to keep the tradition and data collection alive!
